I'm Chao Wu (伍超 in Chinese), a developer and founder based in San Diego, California.

Work

I'm currently exploring and building new startup ideas.

Previously, I co-founded mobile game studio Redemption Games, where I built multiple games from the ground up. Our biggest hit was Sweet Escapes — a puzzle game that became one of the top-earning mobile games. AppLovin acquired us in 2020. Since then, I've launched two more startups and provided AI consulting for startups.

Throughout my career, I've built embedded software, websites, mobile games, and AI applications. I enjoy learning new technologies, but I care more about solving real problems. What excites me most is creating insanely great and useful products.

Education

I hold dual Bachelor's degrees in Computer Engineering and Mathematics from Beihang University.

I was a PhD candidate in Computer Science at Purdue University but decided to drop out with a Master's degree to pursue entrepreneurship.

Beyond Work

I've played piano since I was 6 and picked up guitar in college. I love playing and listening to classic rock and blues.

I enjoy outdoor activities like running along the San Diego coast, surfing, and snowboarding.

I read business books, biographies, and science fiction in my free time.
